Your first social ad as a small business

Paid ads can work for small businesses, but it is easy to burn money if you start without a plan. Here is what to get straight first.

Know the one thing you want

Pick a single goal for your first ad: more visits to your site, more booked appointments, or more followers. Trying to do everything at once usually does nothing well.

Start with content that already works

Look at your best organic posts. The ones people already watch, share, or comment on are your strongest starting point for an ad.

Start small and give it time

Set a modest budget and let the ad run long enough to collect real data before judging it. Changing everything after one day tells you very little.

Track what happens after the click

  • Make sure your website or booking page works well on a phone.
  • Use the platform's tracking tools so you can see what the ad actually led to.
  • Write down what you spent and what you got back.

Consider creators

Ads made by real creators often feel more natural than polished brand ads. Pairing a creator's content with a small ad budget is a common way small businesses stretch their money.
